Kensington Golf & Country Club Achieves Prestigious Audubon Certification
Kensington Golf & Country Club: A Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary
We are thrilled to announce that Kensington Golf & Country Club has achieved the prestigious designation of being a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. This honor reflects our unwavering dedication to environmental stewardship, sustainable practices, and the enhancement of wildlife habitats.
“We are extremely honored to achieve the esteemed recognition as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses,” said David Krzywonos, General Manager of Kensington Golf & Country Club. “Our golf course operations team spearheaded this initiative a couple of years ago, which places us among an exclusive group of golf courses worldwide to earn this designation.”
A Commitment to Environmental Excellence
The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program is an award-winning education and certification initiative by Audubon International. This program supports golf courses in their efforts to protect the environment and preserve the natural heritage of golf.
Our certification journey included a comprehensive evaluation of:
- Environmental Planning
- Wildlife and Habitat Management
- Outreach and Education
- Chemical Use Reduction
- Water Conservation
- Water Quality Management
A Global Recognition
Kensington Golf & Country Club joins a select group of just 970 golf courses worldwide, including 111 in Florida, to receive this certification. Clubs must apply for recertification every three years to maintain this prestigious status.
Our Environmental Stewardship Programs
At Kensington Golf & Country Club, we are proud of our ongoing environmental initiatives:
- Bird Boxes Installation: Providing safe habitats for local bird species.
- Honey Bee Program: Promoting bee conservation, with honey available for purchase in our pro shop.
- Flora and Fauna: Our golf course features numerous specimen plants, shrubs, and trees, and is home to diverse wildlife, including Bald Eagles, Ospreys, and Bobcats.
About Kensington Golf & Country Club
Nestled on 380 acres off Pine Ridge Road just east of Airport-Pulling Road, Kensington Golf & Country Club has been a cornerstone of the community since 1994. As a private, low-density club, we offer natural preserve areas along our 18-hole, par-71 Robert Trent Jones, Jr. championship golf course. Our course has hosted several U.S. Open and Florida State Qualifiers. Currently, we are undergoing a major clubhouse renovation and expansion to enhance the club experience for our members.
